Careers
We're a small, senior team. We don't have a junior layer, a management layer, or a process layer. We have engineers, designers, and strategists who own their work and say what they think.
Senior by default.
Ownership, not tickets.
Plain speech.
Why we're here
We have all worked somewhere that put its values on the wall and then quietly broke the people who lived by them. Long hours dressed up as passion. Loyalty that only ran one way. Culture as a poster, not a practice.
We started NextGen partly so we would never have to work somewhere like that again, and partly so no one who joins us would either. This is what we actually believe, and how we actually work.
Good ideas should get built. The people who build them should be better for it. Most of the industry manages one of those, on a good day. We are building the company that does both.
We put senior people and hard-won experience behind founders who are building something real, and we ship it fast enough to matter. We have built and scaled companies before, so we hand those lessons over instead of letting founders pay for them twice. And we do the work as a small, senior team that says what it thinks and owns what it makes.
There is no junior layer to hide behind, and no one you will never meet. Every person on a project is someone you would want in the room for the hard problem.
You own the outcome, not the task. That means understanding why the thing exists, and being willing to say out loud when the plan is wrong.
We say what we think, to each other and to the people we build for. We do not dress a problem up as a feature, or a delay up as a phase. Honesty is a form of respect.
High standards and real support are not opposites. We ask a lot, we protect your time and your health, and we mean it when we say you should leave every project sharper than you arrived, not emptier.
We have made the expensive mistakes already. The value is in handing that over, to founders and to each other, not hoarding it. Nobody here protects their standing by keeping other people in the dark.
We are built for the AI era, not retrofitted to it, and we would rather ship, learn, and adjust in weeks than plan for a year and be wrong on schedule. The future is being written right now. We intend to hold the pen.
If that sounds like the place you have been looking for, you are probably already one of us.

Open roles
All roles are remote-first. We work across South Africa, the USA, Mauritius, Brazil, and Sri Lanka.
Senior AI Engineer
You wire models, tools and agents into products that ship to real users, not demos that die after the pitch. You know where AI earns its place and where it is just decoration.
Senior Automation Engineer
You find the boring 80% of a job and make it disappear, on purpose. The best version of this work is invisible, which is exactly the point.
AI Agent Engineer
You build AI agents that do real work and, just as importantly, know when to hand back to a human. You care as much about what happens when the agent is wrong as when it is right.
AI Quality & Evaluation Lead
You prove whether the AI is actually good before a client finds out it is not. Here, healthy scepticism is a job requirement, not a personality flaw.
Machine Learning Engineer
You put models where they earn their keep and pull them out where they do not. You would rather ship a simple thing that works than a clever thing that mostly does.
Senior Full-Stack Engineer
You take an idea to live in two weeks and own the outcome, not the ticket. You write code other engineers can read, change and trust.
Senior Software Engineer, Modernization
You inherit the codebase nobody wants to touch and make it safe to work in again. You treat someone else's ten-year-old code with more patience than they did.
Senior Platform Engineer / SRE
You make sure what shipped on Friday is still standing on Monday. When everything is quiet, that is you doing your job well.
Senior Data Engineer
You turn messy, half-true data into something a product can actually rely on. You know the pipeline matters more than the dashboard sitting on top of it.
Senior Mobile Engineer
You build apps that feel native and keep working on a bad connection in a lift. Polish is not optional here, it is the product.
Front-End & Mobile App Developer
You own the interface users actually touch — React Native for iOS and Android, ReactJS for web, and the AI-backed surfaces on top of both. Based in or near Johannesburg for hybrid on-site work.
Senior QA / Test Engineer
You find it before the user does, then make sure it stays found. You take a quiet pleasure in breaking things people were sure were finished.
Application Security Engineer
You think like the person trying to get in, so that nobody actually does. You would rather have the awkward conversation now than the breach later.
Senior Web Developer
You build websites that load fast, rank well and quietly sell. You own the build end to end — architecture, performance, SEO and the handover — and treat a website as a product with a job, not a brochure with a URL.
Senior Product Designer (UX/UI)
You design for the action, not the award. You care more about what a user does next than how the screenshot looks in a portfolio.
Design Engineer (Front-End)
You design it and then build it, so nothing gets lost in the handoff. The gap between Figma and production is where you live.
Conversion-Focused Web Designer
You build the page that turns a visitor into a signup, and you can show the numbers that prove it did. Pretty is welcome, as long as it converts.
Marketing Engineer / MarTech
You tie spend to revenue, not motion. You build the systems that make marketing measurable instead of hopeful.
SEO & GEO Strategist
You get brands cited by AI, not just ranked on Google. You are already thinking about the answer that now sits above the ten blue links.
Growth Engineer
You build the funnel, the tracking and the experiments, then read the results honestly, including the ones that did not work. Curiosity beats ego here.
Content & Narrative Lead
You make dry B2B sound like a human wrote it, because one did. You can explain a complicated product without putting anyone to sleep.
Junior Sales Representative
You are the first voice a prospect hears. You find them, earn the conversation, and hand them to a senior team member ready to buy. Basic plus uncapped commission, paid on results that actually land.
Product Strategist
You sit beside founders, tell them the truth, and turn a vision into something an engineer can build and an investor can back. You have built or run a product, so you know the difference between what users say and what they actually do.
Go-To-Market Partner, Africa
You put a trusted local team behind products entering African markets, and you actually sell, not just open doors. You know credibility on the ground is the whole game, and a fly-in team cannot fake it.
